2023 The Jungfrau: 93 Points and Editor's Choice Award: This is a very promising and satisfying blend of 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 5% Petite Sirah from the Malibu Coast appellation, where the temperature and topography seem well suited for Rhone varietals. Dark berry and cherry aromas meet with earthy streaks of mud and herb on the nose. 2023 The Jungfrau: The 2023 Jungfrau offers peppery black fruits, complex sappy green herbs, and earthy notes. 2023 The Monk: Blackberries, peppery herbs, violets, and some classic Syrah gaminess emerge from the 2023 The Monk. Made from 100% Syrah and aged 16 months in 50% new Ermitage barriques, it's medium to full-bodied, with integrated acidity, fine tannins, and an excellent finish. It brings lots of richness and alcohol but stays balanced, light on its feet, and scores high on sheer drinkability and charm. Drink 2025-2032.
2023 The Eiger: Darker purple-hued, with pepper, violets, assorted black and blue fruits, and minty herbs, the 2023 The Eiger is a blend of 91% Petite Sirah, 7% Grenache, and 2% Syrah aged 16 months in 100% new oak. It's round and medium to full-bodied, with a plush, seamless mouthfeel, ripe tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and excellent length on the finish. This is another powerful, richly styled wine under this label that stays balanced and incredibly drinkable. Drink 2025-2032.
